One of the prominent achievements of TREADS with relation to the farmers’ based activities include the campaign it has taken up on the Bypass Canal of HLC by involving the farmers in this area. As a part of this campaign about 300 farmers were motivated on the issue of forming of new Bypass canal on HLC 5th Distribution. These farmers, in the leadership of the Mr. Sarath Chandra Reddy, Chairman of the Trust, have met the Chief Minister of the State and handed-over a representation in this regard. The outcome was very positive and the government, after very careful study of the request, has decided to take up this programme for the modernization of the Canal and formation of new supply channels with an allocation of 4.10 crore rupees to this project. One completion of this work about 4000 farmer families will be benefited through extension of a irrigation facilities to 10,700 acres of land in Garladinne and Singanamala mandals covering about 60 villages.
